The Mariposa Project is a program that we are still in the works of developing.
The Mariposa Project is a 6-month mentorship program that is designed to help support local black and brown youth aged 16-25 years old. We want to support and bring focus to local BIPOC youth’s future career goals by partnering them with mentors within the community.
We hope to create opportunities for the youth to visualize the possibilities of their future. Many BIPOC may become first generation college students and could use support. First or second-generation Americans also have to acclimatize to a new society while developing and planning for their future.
This program includes career preparation, support navigating different systems, and networking opportunities for the mentors and mentees to connect with their community. This program will create a space for discussing race, microaggressions, social barriers, processing intersections of identities, and navigating academic and professional spaces as a BIPOC.
